Framlingham College
College Road, Framlingham, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP13 9EY
Framlingham College is a co-educational boarding and day school in rural Suffolk, with around 400 pupils in the Senior School and a Prep School and Nursery at nearby Brandeston Hall taking children from the age of two. Service families using the Continuity of Education Allowance receive a 24.1 per cent remission on Senior School boarding fees.
The College was founded in 1864 as a memorial to Prince Albert and sits in open countryside within sight of Framlingham Castle. Senior School pupils are split almost evenly between boarders and day pupils. Boarding runs full, weekly, flexi or occasional in the Senior School, with full and flexi boarding at the Prep, so the arrangement can change with a posting.
There is no typical Framlinghamian and no single path: pupils here are academics, actors, musicians, expeditioners, sports people, innovators and scientists, often several at once. The learning culture is ambitious, and pupils are encouraged to seek out challenge, embrace opportunity and take time to reflect on each experience.
Pastoral care runs through seven Senior School Houses, four for boys and three for girls, each supported by experienced tutors. The Chapel and the school Chaplain are part of daily College life.
Main entry points are at 11+, 13+ and 16+, with scholarships awarded across academic, sporting, creative and all-round categories, and means-tested bursaries assessed individually by the Bursar. Recent leavers have gone on to study Film Making, PPE, Biomedical Sciences, Design, Anthropology, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Drama, Psychology and Criminology, with others taking up recording contracts, conservatoire places and sports scholarships to Stanford and Yale.

At Framlingham we believe in the individual. There is no typical Framlinghamian, no singular path that we take. Everyone here is valued for who they are, for their experiences, character, and belief in their future. Our commitment is to ready each of our pupils for their adult world.
